CDL School Bus S Endorsement — What You Need to Know

The CDL School Bus (S) endorsement is required to drive any vehicle designed to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver) as a school bus. It is regulated jointly by state DMVs and the FMCSA.

The knowledge test focuses on: loading and unloading safety procedures (stopping location, use of the red light arm, confirming students reach a safe zone), mandatory railroad crossing stops, emergency exit operation, pre-trip safety inspections, and special needs student transportation regulations.

These 20 practice questions cover all of those core topics. We recommend pairing this test with a full review of FMCSA CDL Handbook Chapter 10.
