CDL School Bus S Endorsement — What You Need to Know

The CDL School Bus (S) Endorsement is required to drive any school bus designed to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver), and is regulated jointly by individual state DMVs and the FMCSA.

The written knowledge test focuses on: loading and unloading safety procedures (stopping position, use of red warning lights and stop arm, confirming students reach a safe area), mandatory stops at railroad crossings, emergency exit operation, pre-trip safety inspections, and special needs student transportation regulations.

All 20 questions in this practice test cover these core topics. We strongly recommend pairing this test with a thorough review of Chapter 10 of the official FMCSA CDL Handbook.
